Workshop part 1
Unit 1: The framework - The Learn2Care podcast series 2024 (e.g.)
- What is a podcast and for whom/listening habits?
- What is the Learn2Care podcast about?
Goals/target group/emotional attachment - How is a Learn2Care sequence structured? Elements, sequence, duration
- Listen to an ideal example together (start with original sound and signalling + 2-3 minutes of conversation +
end)
- Which of the volunteers in the group will focus on which topics?
Divide up task content and possible dialogue partners - Go through the checklist per episode (pdf) together

Unit 2: Technical equipment and recording
(all bring their own smartphones and/or recording devices)

- Mobile phone and/or recording device
Go through the ideal recording step-by-step together - everyone with their own

- Sample recordings each for themselves
- Go through the pre-micro checklist (pdf) together

Unit 3: Conversation in front of the microphone

Workshop part 2
Unit 4: Editing on the PC with the Audacity software
(all, if possible, bring their own laptop and headphones)

- IDEAL to have downloaded the Audacity software at home in advance
(https://www.audacityteam.org/download/) + FFmpeg Installer for Audacity
(FFmpeg_5.0.0_for_Audacity_on_Windows_x86_64.exe), so that mobile phone compatible formats can also be saved in
Audacity works - Check settings together: Audio setup (connect recording device to internal or external
Microphone, recording channels set to stereo) - Try out recording your own voice (Rec - Pause - Stop) and merging the recordings.

Demonstration of: a) Import audio file (preferably an example of your own recording - see

b) Cursor + select + move file back and forth + cuts + delete pauses/silence
c) Take away fear with reverse Ctrl+z and shortcuts that participants know from Word & Co.

d) Optimise audio track (effect + normalise), make audio track louder and quieter (entire track
and individual parts via effect + amplification in the plus range or in the minus range
e) Save project (explain difference between project and finished audio file) with specific name
and in the correct folder
f) Import second audio track: Signation + import third audio track: Music
g) Working with 3 tracks: shifting back and forth + fading music (envelope instrument)
h) Finish: Select project (Select + All) + Mix tracks (mix and render) and save as
last step: export file as mp3 with a specific name in the correct folder - Workshop task: edit your own short recording on your mobile phone in Audacity and add music.

Unit 5: Preparing audio files and text elements for submission

- Feedback session - clarifying doubts
- Structure of a podcast episode (max. duration 15 min. in total): The building blocks and their sequence
a) Teaser (crisp original sound of interview partner max. 30 sec.)
b) Intro (listen together) - music fade-out
c) Introduction (welcome & introduce moderator & guest) - possibly brief music again
d) Discussion block
e) Outro (listen together) - Together with the finished audio file (mp3 stereo) of the Learn2Care episode, the
Participants should also provide a "snappy" title (no longer than 90 characters including spaces) and
submit a short text (ideal length approx. 800 characters incl. spaces + any links) - as a
Summary of the content of the specific episode. The text should make you want to listen to it.
Homework: Edit podcast episode and write text elements - submission/deadline
Optional - Unit 6 for podcasting enthusiasts to deepen their knowledge
- Demonstrate remote tools: iris and/or cleenfeed (for PC recordings) and Spotify for Podcasters
