What is dementia?

Dementia and its theory
Dementia is the generic term for illnesses that restrict thinking, remembering, orientation and combining different thought processes. Dementia literally means "without mind". As a result of dementia, everyday activities can no longer be carried out independently.
(Textbook Health and Nursing Assistance, 2019, ed. Sens-Dobritzsch, page 552)
Dementia is more common in women than in men in all age groups, and the figures rise exponentially with increasing age in both men and women.
(Alzheimer, Diagnose Verlauf Behandlung, 2017, ed. VKI Müller, Dal-Bianco, page 11)
You can find an overview here:

In the 65-69 age group, 0.7 per cent of women and 0.6 per cent of men suffer from the disease.

Among 85-89 year olds, 8.8 per cent of men and 14.2 per cent of women are affected
